Today in Antwerp: the premiere of Under Your Spell

On February 25, 26 and 27, Under Your Spell by Audrey Apers will premiere at Monty in Antwerp.

Four figures enter a forest that is not merely a place, but an active counterpart: it breathes, swells, pulls and resists. Time loses its measure, direction becomes uncertain. What seems outside begins to seep in.

Armed with amulets, ropes, weapons, senses and conflicting instincts, they attempt to orient themselves. They measure, grope, fall and recover. The forest does not answer but it responds.

Under Your Spell moves between physical humor and existential threat, between lucid dreams and raw bodies. The performance shifts across registers: from slapstick to ritual, from collective scenes to intimate disruption.

What begins as a journey becomes a struggle to keep moving as distinctions begin to blur: between seeing and believing, human and animal, care and violence, inside and outside.

In a world where seeing is required in order to believe, this performance reverses that logic. It invites us to suspend vision for a moment and to trust what has not yet revealed itself: intuitive knowing, bodily intelligence, and forces that only emerge when control is relinquished.

The work of Audrey Apers is raw, playful and distinctly physical. In Under Your Spell, she explores the place of the female body within the contemporary neoliberal imagination, not as image, but as force, as a carrier of knowledge and transformation.

As dramaturg, Sara Vanderieck accompanied this process, in which searching is not a transitional phase, but the core of the work.

Under Your Spell premieres on February 25, 26 & 27 at Monty in Antwerp.
